Today I went to play tennis with Nan. I first went to her place. She had moved into this apartment quite a while ago, but only recently started setting up her bed and desk. Before that, she had been sleeping on the sofa. Today, she could finally sleep in a real bed, so her place started to feel a bit more like home.

After that, we went to the school and then to the tennis court. Today I taught her how to hit the ball with a forehand. While we were playing, there was another group playing tennis next to us. I noticed that one of the guys played really well, so I asked for his WeChat. I hope I can ask him to play tennis together next time.

After tennis, Nan and I came back together. At first, we wanted to go for a buffet, but when we got there, we suddenly realized it was already past eight. By then, most restaurants were already closed, so we had no choice but to go to the supermarket, buy some food, and cook by ourselves.

On the way back, I watched some videos about how to play tennis. After I got home, I started cooking. Then I realized that I only had a little rice left, so I decided to make porridge instead. I added some sweet potato to the rice and cooked sweet potato porridge. I also made a stir-fried dish. Earlier today, I had told Nan that I still had some green peppers, but I already knew exactly what green pepper stir-fried with pork would taste like, so I did not really feel like eating it. She suggested that I could make green pepper stir-fried with eggs instead, so I did that. I used three eggs.

While waiting for the porridge to cook, I watched a short part of a TV series called Fugui, which is adapted from Yu Hua’s novel To Live. After the food was ready, I started eating while watching a video by Li Xiaolai about learning English. He said that we should spend about three hours reading every day. In this way, we can gradually shift our thinking from our native language into another language. I think what he said makes a lot of sense. When I was in high school, I spent a lot of time reading aloud again and again, and my English really improved a lot.

But now I feel that my English has not improved much recently, and I do not feel very good about that. So I started thinking that maybe I should change the way I learn. I can first record what I want to say in Chinese, then turn it into standard English, write it down, and read it aloud. I think this method feels quite good.

That was basically my day. In the morning, I went for a run, bought some things, and went to K-Supermarket to get food for lunch. I also bought a few peaches, but they were not tasty at all. They were not sweet. I relaxed a bit and had some ice cream. Later in the evening, Nan said she wanted to treat me to ice cream, but I told her that I had already had ice cream in the morning, so I did not want more.

Overall, today was quite relaxing. I chatted with Nan, played tennis, cooked, and enjoyed my day. I felt happy.
